What information should I obtain after my Florida car accident?

The first thing you should do after an accident is make sure that everybody’s okay. Assuming that that’s the case, you should move the vehicles to a safe location. At that time, call the police to come to the scene and do a report. You can exchange information with the other drivers, but it’s important that you don’t admit any fault for the accident. Don’t apologize. Let the insurance companies sort that out. You should also check the scene to see if there’s any independent witnesses not involved in the accident who have stopped. If there are, get their contact information, so that they can be reached later on to see what they say about the accident.

It’s also important that you have pictures. Most people now have a cell phone with a camera, so assuming you do have that, take pictures of your vehicle, take pictures of the other vehicles involved, the damage to the vehicles, and if you can, pictures of the accident scene. Only take pictures of the accident scene if you can do it safely.
