What is a Contractor’s Final Payment Affidavit?
A contractor’s final payment affidavit is an affidavit that you should get from the contractor prior to making the final payment for the work. The affidavit indicates that the work to be done is completed and it also lists all the lieners under the contract and tells you if they’ve been paid and if not, how much they’re owed. In exchange for the final payment, the contractor in the affidavit also waives his right to file a lien against your property.
