No-fault insurance is also known as PIP, or personal injury protection. In the state of Florida, regardless of who causes the accident, the first 10,000 dollars of your medical bills is paid by your PIP coverage. You have benefits up to 10,000 dollars. In order to get 10,000 dollars in benefits, it has to be determined by a medical doctor that you have an emergency medical condition. Absent of finding of an emergency medical condition, your PIP benefits will be capped at 2,500 dollars. It’s also important to note, that in order to utilize your PIP benefits, it’s required that you treat within 14 days of the date of your accident.
